Went up there in ’73 w/ old friend whose granddad had a cabin. Connected w/ the trail from backpack camping over @ the mica mine on the S side of Grassy Knob up from N Fork Cattail creek. Rambled along the trail just a bit, then headed back to camp. It was end of December. Beautiful, crystal clear, icy @ night. Was my first Appalachian trip. It was a ‘mighty high’ experience!
Lovely area, difficult terrain to navigate since hurricane helene but very beautiful and fun to climb on rocks. We met the owner they were very kind and helped with parking.
Absolutely beautiful! Gorgeous waterfalls. Somewhat steep and rocky. But totally worth it. Very little parking available. There is a creek to cross a little ways up or you can cross a very old bridge that’s crossable but be prepared it’s aged.
Only made it halfway because it mostly has steep inclines once you get a ways in. The beginning, which is easy, walks along a beautiful river so even if you don’t make it far there’s something nice to see.
