🐾 Kids at the Dog Park: Real Stories, Safety Risks & Smarter Solutions

The Henry Cook Lookout Point offers pet-friendly trails and beautiful panoramic views over Burbank, making it a favorite for locals searching for an outdoor adventure with their dogs. This scenic spot is accessible via a moderately inclined hike of roughly 0.7 miles along wide, fire-road style paths leading from the Stough Canyon Nature Center. The park is perfect for dog owners seeking a rewarding urban hike with breathtaking city vistas at sunrise or sunset.
While there isn’t a dedicated off-leash dog park or fenced area, the wide trails and friendly environment make it ideal for leashed pets and their humans. Along the way, you’ll find benches at the summit to relax and enjoy the view, though shade is limited and it’s recommended to visit in the morning or evening to avoid the midday sun. Families with children will appreciate the green play areas, basketball courts, and safe, single gated entry, as well as public restrooms and picnic areas nearby.
Nice overlook. Expansive views of the cities below and in the distance. Short hike from the nature center.
A moderate level trail in my opinion but worth the hike up as the views at the top of the lookout point were gorgeous.😍
On a Monday night 🌙 I went with a group of friends on a guided night hike of the trail that started at the Nature Center and ended at the lookout point.
A steady incline that took a bit of effort for most in my group lol but well worth the exertion once we reached the top.
A nice workout, beautiful location, friendly guides, with gorgeous views of the city and adjacent areas.
It’s a 0.7 mile hike to get to it, steep 10° grade, but it was an accomplishment!
I definitely would suggest doing this hike in the early morning or late evening. We went midday and despite being only 70 degrees there’s a lot of sun exposure and it’s all uphill. It was a rewarding view even if it was a bit hazy.
I visited this spot on a Sunday afternoon. Not crowded. Great views of the city of Burbank. Sunrise or sunset is nice. 15 min walk on easy incline up to from the trail head. 1 bench to sit and no shade. I saw many small, lizards on the trail. Paths are wide it’s like a “fire road”.
