We arrived early Friday afternoon. We were not told prior to our check in that the pool was closed, which was a huge disappointment. When I checked in, I still was not told the pool was closed. We later went up to do Gem Mining to see a hand written note on the door stating the pool was closed. Listed under amenities is WiFi, when I checked in a hand written note that new WiFi was being installed but was not notified. None of these items were stated in the email that was sent prior to check-in.
The facilities and activities are run down. They had no activities for kids. Nothing taking place is the main shelter house.
We had rain Saturday into Sunday and had about 6-8inches of standing water on our entire site.
The office/store closes at 6pm daily.
Really needs some TLC. Showers/restrooms are nice and clean. No gravel or concrete sites. All mud sites. Sites are very close, not level at all.
Laundry room got the job done.
NULL.00 wash
NULL.50 dry
Easy to get to location. Over all, place is very disappointing, needs major TLC, it would help tons if they would put some gravel on sites and roads to site. Pool was closed. No wifi, sign says wifi coming soon.
Would not recommend this KOA.
Stayed one night during a long road trip. The staff were so friendly! Everyone I encountered was helpful in some way. The bathrooms and showers were clean, and the tent site was maintained. The whole campground was quiet on a Saturday night, which was greatly appreciated after a long day of driving. I’ll be back!
I love camping so much that I’ve been to a lot of campgrounds. I joined KOA because I had a lot of good memories from my trips out west, but Buckeye Lake KOA is the worst. It rained so much last night that my tent got flooded by about 4.5-5 inches. I only found out this morning that this happens when it rains. None of the staff told me in advance. There were a lot of sites that weren’t flooded, but I couldn’t understand why they gave me a site that would flood when they knew it would, but I tried to endure it. But when the staff came in the morning and saw that my tent was flooded, they didn’t apologize. When I asked what happened and if this was the first time, they said it was because of the rain, and that site floods when it rains. Then they asked me why I didn’t move my tent to a place that wasn’t flooded. I was speechless. I didn’t know my tent would flood, and I didn’t think I’d have to go out on a rainy day to move my tent. All I could do was wait for the rain to stop. Plus, there were so many mosquitoes, it was horrible. After I finished packing up, I went to the sink to wash my hands. But the water wouldn’t drain and it was so dirty. It was the worst campsite I’ve ever been to.
5 stars All The Way. The Buckeye Lake KOA had the friendliest, helpful staff. EVERYONE went out of their way to make our stay at the KOA an excellent experience. The staff offers delivery of fire wood, ice, & anything you might want or need from their store.
The shower facilities and bathrooms were safe & clean. The camping lots were spacious & level, easy to pull in & out of your lot. There was no trash anywhere to be seen. We will definitely stay here again.
Thank you!
