🐾 How to Handle Aggressive Dogs at the Dog Park – Real Advice from Dog Owners
Visiting the dog park can be a joyful activity for both you and your furry friend—but aggressive encounters can quickly […]
Bark Park, also known as Alcoa I40 Park, is a well-loved destination for local dog owners in Bryant, Arkansas. Conveniently located at 1110 Shobe Rd, this dog park features separate, securely fenced areas for both large and small dogs, allowing your pet to play and socialize safely. With easy accessibility for wheelchairs and plenty of parking, it’s a great spot for all dog lovers to enjoy some outdoor time.
Visitors will find amenities such as thoughtfully maintained fences, benches for owners, and rolling landscapes perfect for exercise and play. Waste stations with poop bags and trash bins are provided, although users are asked to clean up diligently to keep the space pleasant for everyone. The park is adjacent to ball fields and family-friendly, making it an ideal place for both pups and their humans. Pet-friendly hiking trails also connect nearby, offering the chance to mix playtime with a scenic walk. Whether your dog enjoys making new friends or running off-leash, Bark Park in Bryant is one of the best options in the area for social pups.
Great, open environment to give your dogs the opportunity to socialize!
Great individual areas for large and small dogs. Could be improved upon. Need webcam to discourage dog dumping, security and if course to see if anyone’s out there to play with (usually it’s a hit or miss unless you know someone to schedule a playdate). FYI: This park is also known as Alcoa I40 Park (which also includes ball fields).
This is a painful review to write because the City of Bryant has invested in building a dog park that ought to deserve 4 or 5 stars. The facility itself is excellent. The fences are in excellent condition. There is segregation for small and big dogs. There is a rolling landscape. There are places for humans to sit. Most importantly: there are ample supplies provided to clean up after your dog after they come and play.
Sadly, this is why this park gets a one-star rating from me. I just walked this park with my 35lb lab puppy, and it was filthy. There was literally no space in the park where there was no dog poop. If you drew a map of this park and sliced into 10ft squares and put an “X” everywhere there was a pile, every square would have 4 or 5 “X” in it. It really makes no sense at all as the dispenser for sacks was full and the trash can for waste was empty and read to receive new deposits. The only explanation for it is that people using this park simply don’t care that they are destroying it for others use.
This park is a health hazard in its current state as I write this on 11 Sept 2024, and it is not the fault of the city. It is the fault of those who are negligently running their dogs in there and leaving the mess as if it didn’t matter for the next person who wants to use the park. My suggestion, sadly, is to close this park or repurpose it for something else after the mess is cleaned up. It was a good try by city officials, but in this case the citizens ruined a very good thing.
My dog is constantly being bullied by a poodle that I’ve seen a couple of times here and today I got bitten by a small brown dog with white splotches. It looked like a chihuahua/terrier mix – big ears.
I was bending down to my dog to give her some water, and while I wasn’t looking that brown dog growled and then bit me on my arm. A bruise formed pretty immediately. The owner made no apologies whatsoever and instead said the dog “wanted to play”. No, sir. A dog does not bite a person because it wants to play. I was so mad that we had to leave.
We will not be going back. Which makes feel bad, because my dog pulled so hard to go in there after we got done with our nearby walk.
Editing to add a follow up picture. 3 days out, most of the bruise has come to the surface now.
My dog loves the bark park dog park. She will try to get other dogs to chase her around. Then she’ll run them around in circles. But sometimes the bigger dogs will get to playful nipping at her. Then she wants to bite back.
