Visiting the dog park can be a joyful activity for both you and your furry friend—but aggressive encounters can quickly […]
Owl’s Head Park Dog Run, located at 68th Street and Shore Road in Brooklyn, NY, is one of the larger fenced dog parks in the city. This dog-friendly park offers spacious running areas for both large and small dogs, making it a favorite spot for dog owners seeking off-leash exercise and socialization in Brooklyn. Locals appreciate the pet-friendly atmosphere, friendly dogs and owners, and the park’s consistent hosting of free community events like Halloween celebrations.
The dog run features separate areas for small and large dogs, a water fountain for pups and owners, and shady spots provided by large, surrounding trees. Amenities also include benches, a poop bag station, and access to nearby parking. Some visitors note the gravel surface and limited shade for humans, and there are complaints about park cleanliness and fence height, but for many in the Bay Ridge neighborhood, it remains an essential off-leash resource. Owl’s Head Park also connects to scenic pet-friendly trails and offers stunning waterfront views, making it a unique outdoor destination for dog lovers in Brooklyn, NY.
There was a metal bottle cap in there and dog poo. Otherwise it’s nice there and they have water for the dogs!
Nice area and larger then most dog parks in the city. However the surface is the worst in the city. It’s some kind of crushed cement. It’s filthy and when it’s windy it blows all over like a dust storm. Who ever designed the run never had a dog, dogs like running on grass not crushed rock. The surface used to make my dog pads bleed I had to wrap them so she play there. Pleas to the local assembly person to remodel the run the run have brought no results.

Update Sept 2024 – It’s a horrible place. Dusty abandoned. Very few owners these days use the park. Changed from two stars to one
Poorly planned dog park. Fences are not high enough (I’ve seen two dogs thus far jump over into busy traffic), the gravel is tough on the dog paws, there’s a sewage pipe directly in the center, which often stinks
Sadly, this is the best option locally

Nice place to run your dog, but not the best spot for humans, as there is very little shade, no tables and very few benches. The park on 86th is much more human friendly.
But there are dogs here quite often and it’s a big spot for letting your dog run.
Has a water fountain for people and dogs.
