🐾 Kids at the Dog Park: Real Stories, Safety Risks & Smarter Solutions

Frank Decolvenaere Dog Run is a popular dog park in Brooklyn, NY, located at 3rd Ave & Shore Rd. Known for its spacious and clean Astroturf surface, this dog run offers an inviting open area where pups can play off-leash while owners enjoy stunning waterfront views. The park is wheelchair accessible and offers plenty of shade from mature trees, making it a comfortable spot throughout the warmer months.
This South Brooklyn gem stands out by providing distinct sections for small and large dogs, benches for owners to relax, and water fountains for thirsty pups. While mostly clean, visitors should be aware that some torn-up toys and tennis balls may be left behind by other owners. The park is praised for its kid-friendliness as well, making it a fantastic family destination for dog lovers in the area.
Great views while the pups play – seating and water fountain – section for little dogs too and besides the turf, there’s grass & dirt so they can do their business 😉
Watch out after heavy rain, flooding outside entrance so sucks trying to get in, but once there at least no water collects on the turf
This is my place! Love it! 🐾🦴💌💌💌
Spacious dog park with a section for small dogs. Benches available for humans to sit and two water fountains for the pups. My only complaint is every time I come here there are so many torn up pieces of tennis balls and other dog toys. Understood that in a dog park the pups will wear down these toys, but it doesn’t seem like owners clean up. My dog and others who love picking up random stuff off the ground have a field day here. Each time I come I fill up 1 – 2 poop bags full of torn up toys. Just wish others would be more mindful to pick up after their dogs.
Great little dog park. Beautiful view, nice shade, and water set out for the pups
Recently Built.. nice and open space with good amount of shaded area.. Astroturf still brand new so it’s still hard and poking my dog’s paw.. but other dogs doesn’t seem like it bother them as much.. one of 2 dog parks with Astroturf in South Brooklyn.. the other one is Manhattan Beach Park..
