Starrett City Park, now also known as Shirley Chisolm State Park, is a scenic urban retreat in Brooklyn, New York. This spacious park boasts plenty of green space for dog owners and their furry friends to explore, making it an ideal dog park in Brooklyn for walks, fresh air, and relaxation. Locals praise its beautiful scenery, ongoing tree planting efforts, and well-maintained grounds. While not exclusively a dog off-leash park, the abundance of shady areas, picnic spots, and broad paths attracts many visitors with pets seeking dog-friendly trails and pet-friendly outings near East New York.
The park offers wide, paved paths great for walking, running, or biking with your pup, and there are numerous open areas perfect for a relaxed stroll. While facilities like fenced play areas or separate dog sections are not mentioned, the park’s cleanliness and regular maintenance create a safe and welcoming environment. Its proximity to playgrounds, fishing spots, and picnic tables makes it an excellent choice for the whole family, including your four-legged companions. Note: For the best experience, visit during daylight hours and keep dogs leashed unless posted otherwise.
Nice place to walk by your self, with friends and family. Nice place to ride your bike and fishing also. You can also go picnicking. Even saw a rabbit. Beautiful scenery also.
Hello folks welcome all new people new eye balls and new beeeeeeeeeeeeeeez thanks for reading my post okay nice huge park to get your thoughts together forget the bills kids next door neighbor get some air relax peace of mind nice weather that’s means nice park to here to run jog watch n your tablet phone read some books eat and so on so if you are near here come on down until then peace
FYI, it is now called Shirley Chisolm State Park. It’s still under construction. Therefore, more to come which will make it a 5-star location. They just need to make stations for the fishermen/women/people to use, so that they don’t leave fish blood and guts all over the nice new white picnic tables.
Perfect for walks and getting fresh air from all the green nature around. There is also a serious effort being made by planting trees . Its beautiful
I went here with friends last summer. The site seemed to be well maintained and I haven’t seen much trash around the vicinity. As for the murder, I’m hoping that they do provide more security around the bike paths, but, regardless this place looked beautiful to me and is not worth one star from that little incident, and the best thing to do when going to any park in general is to go out during the daylight and with a friend. You’re more safe with more around you than compared to being alone.
