South Oxford Park is a charming, pet-friendly community park located in the heart of Fort Greene, Brooklyn. Known for its fenced areas that help ensure safety from cars and the vibrant mix of sun and shade, this park provides a comfortable atmosphere for dog owners and their pups. The space boasts astroturf, plenty of benches, and a beautifully laid-out environment, making it a favorite for both pets and families alike. While it’s not exclusively a dog park, dogs enjoy ample space within the fenced turf area, and owners appreciate how clean and well-maintained the park remains.
This dog-friendly spot is ideal for those seeking a relaxed outing in Brooklyn. While the park features a playground for children and benches for easy supervision, it does not have specific off-leash or separate small/large dog areas. It’s best for on-leash walks and casual play, with the added bonus of community-led activities like soccer occasionally taking place nearby. If you’re searching for a welcoming dog park in Brooklyn, New York, with plenty of seating and shade, South Oxford Park is a great choice within the neighborhood.
Astroturf, a 5-12 year old playground, lots of benches, basketball court, and pretty layout. Playground not suitable for the very littles, the steps are big and the heights can be a bit scary. There’s a group that teaches soccer sometimes here. Park is fenced and safe from cars. Usually very clean, lots of sun.
Small corner playground that seems kind of tucked away, which is nice. Not the biggest, no swings but has slides and monkey bars and kiddos seem to enjoy it. Right outside the gates is a sprinkler and a turf area with benches. No rest rooms but I recently saw Porter potties out( not sure if that’s permanent) oh and an adjoining tennis court.
The kids love the park.
The park has improved a lot with the changes. The view is great. The only problem is the bathroom situation. Kids go to the bathroom frequently and without a bathroom it makes it hard to go as often.
Really great space in the south Fort Green community. Surprised I hadn’t been there before. Fun activities, good mix of shade and sun
