If you’re looking for a well-loved dog park in Brooklyn, New York, Maria Hernandez Park Dog Run offers a vibrant space for your pup to socialize and play. This community-favorite run is located within Maria Hernandez Park, making it easily accessible for Bushwick and broader Brooklyn residents. The dog park is divided into separate areas for large and small dogs, which helps keep dogs safely matched by size. Local dog owners praise the friendly community and the park’s urban energy.
While the dog run is fenced for safety, pet parents should be aware that particularly small or clever dogs may be able to slip out through some gaps. Shade is limited during parts of the year, so it’s a good idea to plan visits accordingly to keep both yourself and your dog cool. Most mornings, you’ll find regulars enjoying caffeine and conversation while their pets romp together. The park could use some repairs and cleaning, but it remains a popular off-leash spot for city dogs. If you’re looking for a dog park with a welcoming vibe and a choice of enclosed play areas, Maria Hernandez Park Dog Run is worth a visit.
This dog run is in desperate need of repair. It’s dirty and falling apart. The city needs to add turf and clean this entire park actually.
Fun when not overcrowded.. so at like 6AM. Many people do NOT know how to command their animals. My dog has been attacked here multiple times and some people have no idea how to recall their pets or their animals are just not trained. Today MY dog was attacked again and that was the last straw unfortunately. The owner said “she’s just territorial. We come here everyday”, which is just confusing. If your dog is aggressive they should not be off leash.
Nice place for doggos and people. Most of the dogs are friendly and playful, the same goes for their humans. There’s a regular crew there most mornings, with playtime for doggies and kaffeeklatsch time for people. The area could use some TLC, but overall the entire park in general is dog friendly.
Good dog park. Well maintained, friendly dog owners. Only slight complaint is that I wish there was more shade, but it’s only really a problem for 1/4th of the year.
This park has an enclosed big dog side & a small dog side…. But take note, a small enough “escape artist” possibly can squeeze out onto the street sidewalk of the park.
