🐾 Kids at the Dog Park: Real Stories, Safety Risks & Smarter Solutions

Located in the heart of Brooklyn on Sullivan Place, Dodger Playground is a cozy neighborhood spot that offers a peaceful and underused space for both families and dog owners. While not exclusively a dog park, its often quiet atmosphere and fenced basketball court-size area make it a hidden gem for those looking to enjoy outdoor time with their canine companions. The expansive open area is perfect for letting your dog socialize, play, or enjoy a leisurely stroll on pet-friendly paths.
The park features a playground for children, lush green spaces, a water feature, and several benches and shaded spots, making it comfortable for visitors. Dodger Playground hosts community events in the summer and is known for its friendly, welcoming vibe. Although there are some concerns about maintenance and the presence of non-family adult visitors, locals appreciate the clean environment and the sense of privacy the park provides—especially during off-peak hours.
It’s Summertime and my nieces wanna swing. So I’ll come here to my nearby playground 🌴🌺
With some TLC, the location has great potential.
*asterisk on this rating* this is a five if u want specifically to have an entire tiny city playground to yourself and your kid (s) for whatever reason that may be then it’s a 5 because this place is abandoned much of the time. On a weekday or even on a weekend I have had the entire playground for myself and my daughter for long periods of time. If you are looking for a place to find other kids for your kids to play with …then this is a one star spot.
It’s a ghost town often or maybe has one pair of sketchy teens in it that scurry off when u show up , I guess you know when it was great was only during Covid, otherwise kind of a lonely, ghosted feeling kinda playground , unless you are a pair of sketchy teens and then it’s a 5 star again cause you can have it to yourself. Depends on your intentions. 😆
Nice little park in the middle of a Brooklyn street (sits between 2 apartment buildings). Families and their small kids seem to visit during the day for a summer cool down ( well that’s what I did with my nephew ☺️). Seen some older teens there as well—might’ve cut school.
Nice little cozy park, however u need to get bug repellant!!!!
