Nestled just off W Gun Hill Rd, Dog Bone Run is a hidden gem among dog parks in the Bronx, New York. This dog-friendly park features a spacious, fenced-in area where pups are welcome to run off-leash and socialize. Conveniently located near popular hiking and walking trails, it’s an ideal destination for dog owners looking for pet-friendly trails and outdoor adventure within the city. Shaded benches offer a comfortable resting spot for owners, making it easy to relax while your dog plays safely.
The park is part of a larger recreation area with plenty of green space, walking paths, and access to amenities such as restrooms and seating. While Dog Bone Run is appreciated for its convenient location and peaceful atmosphere, reviews note some inconsistent maintenance—so bringing your own waste bags and practicing good park etiquette is encouraged. Despite minor upkeep concerns, this park stands out as a valuable off-leash resource for pet owners in the Bronx looking for a welcoming, safe place for their pets to exercise and socialize.
Park is too small and the fact that it is overgrown with vegetation makes if feel even smaller. Why isn’t this dog run being taken care of? It’s a shame, easily accessible but not being taken care of.
Nice dog park on W Gun Hill Rd that would easily pass by but it’s right off the main road towards the back near hiking trails. Nice spacious park that lots of people like to sit in and enjoy. I love that I can let my pup off the leash to freely run around. It’s pretty well kept and it has multiple enclosed gates so maybe to keep problematic interactions to a minimum. Nicely shaded areas with benches also. Not many dog parks in the Bronx so this was a nice surprise!
Found a comfortable spot for a small birthday celebration and the bathrooms were open and clean.
It’s a very nice dog park, will be coming back in the spring.
The park is huge, you can BBQ and there is an area with a bunch of sprinkler’s for the kiddies. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Special s/o to Ashley who stayed past her shift to clean a bathroom stall because there was a long line for the bathroom. And she did it with a smile and good cheer. All in all we had a great time. Oh and best of all it’s dog friendly with a dog park so the furbabies can play too . Great park😊
