James Edgar Playground, located at 177 Dover St in Brockton, MA, is a well-known local park featuring play structures, a basketball court, baseball field, and a large open area. It’s a family-friendly destination, especially popular in the warmer months for its kid-friendly sprinkler area and open spaces ideal for walking with your furry friends.
The park offers paved and dirt walking paths which attract both dog owners and families. While the paths and grounds are spacious, reviews mention that certain areas can become slippery with dirt and gravel, so caution is advised when walking pets. Shade is available in some spots, making it a reasonable place for pet owners seeking a dog-friendly outing in Brockton. Please note, visitor experiences have noted cleanliness issues and occasional crowding at peak times.
We went to this playground today and it was so disappointing. As soon as we got out of the car, we were greeted with the foul smell of urine. Then as my kids were crawling through one of the tubes, it was cracked almost in half making it very dangerous for them to crawl through.

Decent sized park. Good for bringing the kids for bike riding or to ride scooter due to park size. However walking/riding paths are filled with dirt and gravel/mini rocks that is extremely dangerous when riding bikes or scooters, my child & others have fell badly due to this slippery dirt path. Its important to have children ride with caution(use protective gear), choose cleaner paths (if available) or dont ride at all. The play structures are in tact, so great for little ones to engage with.
For summer, there is a sprinkler area which is fun for the kids (even better when parents are supervising them) on the other hand this area can get packed at times however can be a plus good for children social skill development thats constantly growing.
Despite crucial cleaning of the walking paths that is greatly needed this park is ok

Used google to find a new park to try with my 1 and 2 yo. The google search is deceiving, nice pictures on line, however upon arrival we were extremely disappointed with the characters around and the cigarettes everywhere. Teenagers smoking weed on a slide as I type this. We will not be returning to this park. Hopefully Brockton at least shuts down the baby part and cleans it up . Makes me sad.
