Nestled in the heart of Broadway, NC, Broadway Zoological Park offers a unique blend of family-friendly fun and pet-friendly amenities. The dog park section, though on the smaller side, is fully fenced and allows dogs to roam off-leash, making it a great stopping point for locals and travelers alike. For dog owners seeking a clean, safe, and shady spot to let their pets run, this dog park is a solid choice—backed by well-maintained grounds, plenty of seating, and lots of natural shade, ensuring comfort even on warmer days.
One standout feature at this dog park is the presence of agility equipment for playful pups, plus a smaller, separate fenced section for dogs who prefer a quieter playtime. Water is provided for dogs, and you’ll find double-gated entry for added safety. The surrounding area is scenic and walkable, with woodlands and local trails, making it one of the go-to dog-friendly spots in Broadway. Parking is easy and access is simple, right on a quiet residential street.
Amazing to have a park like this in our small town! You can tell so much thought and work went into designing, building, and maintaining it. I always see fresh food in the animals’ enclosures and everything is well kept. From interactive exhibits like feeding the animals, to playgrounds, and facilities, everything is impressive! I recommend an off-roading stroller as some of the paths are gravel.
If you’ve never experienced haven’t heard about it, now you have. We went today and today’s experience was a 10 out of 10! It was such a good time. We were there for about 3.5 hours and there is so much to see. Tickets were not expensive but they do not include food to feed the animals with or the giraffe feeding which is additional. The workers were extremely kind and helpful. Everything was clean and the animals looked happy except Mr Billy goat gruff who wouldn’t stop heading the fence for more food lol. It was such a good time for the kiddos (4 and under). The Parakeet exhibit was my favorite for sure! It’s about 20 minutes from the Anderson Creek area so the drive was not bad at all. Need a field trip idea? Now you’ve got one. 🙂
If you haven’t gone, definitely stop by and check it out so it can be here for a long time. So many fun animals to see!!
The giraffe feeding and the bird enclosure simply cannot be skipped. This entire park was a delight, but those two elements are the icing on the cake.
Y’all have built an incredible experience here – thank you!
My daughter wanted for her 6th birthday was to visit a zoo and feed animals. So I went google zoos near me and I stumbled across this place and it was set in motion to plan our Saturday in Broadway and make a day trip. We had a group of 11 and everyone had a great time. My daughter favorite part was seeing the giraffes they was in heat the day we came and was told by the manager Haley it wouldn’t been the best to have them out. It was extremely out that day but it didn’t stop or ruin our trip they had shaded areas along with misted covers to help keep you cool. My favorite part was feeding the birds it made me feel like Snow White feeding my little helpers.

A Hidden Gem That’s Full of Heart!
Broadway Zoological Park is an absolute treasure! My family had the most incredible experience; from feeding parakeets and giraffes to getting up close with tortoises, camels, lemurs, spider monkeys, and more. The animals are clearly well cared for, and the staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about what they do.
What sets this place apart is their commitment to rescue and conservation. We were amazed to learn that the zoo houses one of the largest natural habitats for alligators in North Carolina! Knowing our visit helped support this mission made the experience even more meaningful.
It’s not just a zoo, it’s a place of learning, compassion, and connection with nature. I can’t recommend it enough for families, animal lovers, or anyone looking to support a great cause while having an unforgettable day.
We’ll definitely be back!
