Absolutely stunning- piece of heaven on earth. Everything you need for a nice clean quiet outing
I really like this park. It has waterfall. This place is usually calmer than other places. It is usually less crowded than Oakdale park in Bridgewater VA.
They have some panic table. They have restroom. They have a small trail you can walk around.
I am a 400 pound dude so, I don’t say this often. I would call this place “magical”. Ugh, there, I said it. It was an hour drive for us to take our kids there and well worth the drive to me. There is a playground for kids just next to the dam. The dangerous parts are all fenced off so nothing to worry about there. There is a peninsula in the river on the high side of the dam that you can access by a bridge. It was absolutely beautiful there until you turn to see all of the houses in the neighborhood just behind you. Let the kids play a while. Then hit the well maintained bathrooms and then you can cross the bridge and hike the river bank. The water looks very deep up closer to the cliff on the other side so keep the kids close. I loved this place. Will surely go back again and again now that we live in the area!
If you need to get away and just be free, then it’s worth getting in your car, heading down 42, taking Scenic Drive, rolling down the windows, and just forgetting everything around you only to stumble upon this park will be the best mental day you can give yourself.
We just moved here recently, and we like to ride around, find serendipitous places, and just let the world go.
I would highly recommend it to family and friends that live nearby.
Really enjoyed the scenic views and trails. My dog Lola also loved it here! She had so much fun in the open space. I also want to compliment the bathrooms. I was honestly impressed at how clean the bathroom was, I was hesitant to use them but the park bathrooms were cleaner than some gas station bathrooms I’ve used. I stopped by this park at random on a trip down from Waynesboro & I’m super glad I did. Love going here! 💜
