A lovely hike very close to IU. Worth the 5-10 min drive!
Excellent place with surreal vibes. The peace and quiet, the view and the general vibes are all breathtaking. Definitely recommended for a date or a picnic.
Loved it!
This place was awesome. The water was up, but it really enjoyed it. It was so peaceful and so beautiful. I would love to go back and maybe walk the trails of the lake.
A journey back to the roots, and beginning of my artistic exploration, my father always told me-
“Nature is my church, my greatest place, of peace, where I find my way.”
Such a wonderful full circle moment, visiting home is better each time I get the opportunity to come and go, growing older –
I most of all, realize the impact we all have on the world around us, and Lake Griffy, has been a second, (if not third), home to me at times!
Personally I have witnessed the change Griffy Lake, and Griffy Lake Dam, has gone through the last 2 decades. I am so grateful! For the Bloomington Parks and Recreational Services, and all the people of service and unspoken, yet, always welcome trusted staff and voices “for the trees”.
(not to mention for allowing people to experience nature creative expression, and childhood, in a welcoming and exciting environment!)
Thank, you!
The dam itself is pretty ugly but the trails around the reservoir are awesome. The north shore trail in particular is short and sweet but beautiful and the closest thing to a properly rugged trail I’ve seen in IN.
