Julia Russ Asmus Park offers a dog-friendly experience in Bell Gardens, CA, featuring separate, fenced areas for small and large breeds—perfect for pet parents looking for a safe, welcoming space for their furry friends. This well-maintained park is praised for its cleanliness, mature shade trees, and friendly local community. It offers benches and seating for owners, bag dispensers for waste pickup, as well as some agility equipment and obstacles for active play. There’s also a small pond or mini pool for dogs that enjoy swimming. However, restrooms are usually closed, the parking lot is limited, and additional shade and water fountains would further enhance the experience.

About 4 days ago, something happened to me in this park. A man came and stared at me with a lot of hatred. I’m of Spanish origin and he was of Spanish origin and since he had a cut hand with a handkerchief tied around it, I felt so uncomfortable that I had to leave the park. He was very mysterious and then he was sending texts. Please take care.

5pm kids can’t even play. It’s so dark. we need to get some lights on the playground & park. need to get homeless people out of there.

The maintenance service at this park is constant and although some graffiti is present, the park generally is in a decent area in the downtown portion of Bell Gardens. The park’s occupancy level is low and dog friendly. Also to be clear there is no church as referenced in the photos. Also, the bathrooms aren’t open.

Restrooms always close. I’ve been to this park more than 50x mornings, afternoons, and nights not one single time have I seen the restrooms open…ok place for walking distance if you don’t mind squatting or have your kids squat to pee or all the homeless people that hang out here.

This is such a great park. I have a ton of memories there. It is long, which has a basketball court. Plus the playground isn’t bad. There are enough tables for groups of people. For a small park it’s pretty good. The type of people you get are families, teens with attitudes, people walking their dogs, and your occasional potheads. During the day you can have a pretty good time with family and friends. At night though, it can get a little sketchy. You might even get a crackhead. For anyone who sees this review. Just please take note. Keep to yourself or group don’t bug others unless you are playing a game, but I’m mostly talking to those who are high or drunk. Overall just be respectful and clean up after yourself.
Also no restrooms that’s another downside.
