Becket Quarry, located at 456 Quarry Rd in Becket, Massachusetts, is a historic and scenic destination perfect for outdoor enthusiasts and pet owners. While not a traditional fenced dog park, this picturesque area offers several miles of dog-friendly hiking trails surrounded by beautiful forest, the remnants of old machinery, and exceptional quarry views. Visitors comment on the unique character of the trails, with fascinating ruins, rusted relics, and a truly pet-friendly trail experience in the Berkshires.
This site is especially great for active dogs and their owners who enjoy hiking in nature, as leashed dogs are welcome on the numerous marked trails. Although there’s no designated swimming area for dogs (and swimming in the quarry pond is not recommended), families will appreciate the rustic charm, opportunities to explore, and historical significance of this dog-friendly adventure spot in western Massachusetts. Parking is available for a nominal fee. Note: the terrain is best suited for those comfortable with hiking, and accessibility is limited.
Very good place for hiking or waking with a dog. View eround the quarry is stunning, require some modern to difficult hiking still around the pound. Many other trails available for hike as well.
I went on a cloudy afternoon. This place felt so haunting but breathtaking. Short walk to go to the quarry. But pay attention to see all the ruins and little gems from the past. Interesting place
This is the second time in ten years i went to see this history. Very surprised to see a parking machine fee for NULL. But I can understand that people ruin the parks with litter. ALWAYS CARRY OUT MORE THAN YOU CARRY IN ….ESPECIALLY YOU THE YOUNGER HEALTHY HIKERS THAT CAN CARRY A LITTLE. At 65 i can carry out a few cans and plastic bottles you can too. Do your part thank you.
Once you get here, there is a parking lot for the area.It is ten dollars to park. You will follow a trail on the all trails app which will take you into a complete loop. From the all trails app, I ended up following some of the daddy line, which took me around the quarry area. And there are so many cool rusted finds back there . Definitely a gorgeous and wonderful hike. I really enjoyed hiking this area There is also so much history here.
This was a FUN place to explore. Well marked trails offered us 3+ miles of exploring and unexpected sights. Do not recommend you swim in that dirty pond full of slurry from the manufacturing days that are not that distant. But the remnants of cars, trucks, railways, machinery and buildings from the manufacturing industry there was SUPER cool. May 2025: Seems some bored individuals have done some damage to some of the trail plaques which is sad. Also the kiosk for parking fees does not function, nor does the QR code. The porta potty needs some help and general maintenance could be done to keep this in the spirit of being a quality Trustees property.
