Basin Pond Reserve is a popular destination for dog owners and outdoor enthusiasts located in Becket, Massachusetts. This dog-friendly hiking area features well-marked wooded trails, scenic overlooks, and a tranquil pond, making it a favorite for families and pet lovers alike. With its peaceful atmosphere and natural beauty, it’s a great spot to explore with your dog and enjoy the remarkable Berkshire landscape.
The park is renowned for its loop trail, which features both upper and lower routes, a charming wooden bridge, and opportunities to observe local wildlife such as newts and fungi. While the terrain is not considered difficult for endurance, hikers with unsteady footing should exercise caution due to some rocky areas. Parking is available—though it can be tight—but street parking is usually accessible near the lot. Note that the reserve may not be fully accessible for those with mobility issues.
I liked it alot I didn’t exactly do it all but ran a good distance to the signs that said upper and lower I went the upper way and even over a nice wooden bridge to begin with. some good streams and pleasant scenery yes rocks in some places. did not make it to the look out damnn might of been close and their was a loop so i am thinking to go back and do it all another time.
Lovely, wooded hiking trails. Peaceful, scenic overlook.
Great trail for the family. People with mobility issues may not be able to navigate the trails.
Beautiful walk. Path very well marked. Not very difficult as far as endurance, But a person with unsteady footing , will need to be careful.
My absolute favorite hike. We take the upper trail to the pond and the lower trail back to the parking lot for a nice loop! Keep an eye out for newts and lots of funghi. Parking can sometimes be tight but easy to park along the road near the lot.
