Small roughly maintained former quarry. We visited during a drought so not much water flowing. Access is limited if you have weak ankles. If you can’t hike to the falls you can see them from the picnic area by the Methodist Church. It is still a bit of an incline, but brief. The lower entrance has limited access until you get to the stairs. If the water was flowing heavily it would have been much more spectacular. It’s free.
Buttermilk Falls looks beautiful at all times of the year. The pictures that I have here are from the wintertime, and warmer months when I find those pictures. It has a lot of good hiking trails and the water is decent to swim in. Be absolutely careful of ticks and any glass on the ground because there can be a lot of garbage spread out around the place lately. Lots of nice scenery from nature to be seen here
Great little water home, definitely wear shoes and socks and bring river shoes if you can. There is a Porto potty on the way in, then a short trail you will want the shoes for. Water is not too slimy but you will want a shower after.
nice hike! there were broken clear shards of glass along the trail which made it a little unsafe. other than that, it was a nice short hike!
This was easy enough to get to and the trail is right off of the dedicated parking area. It’s a pretty easy walk, but does included an area with steep steps, and is fairly scenic. That said it was a disappointingly short walk from the parking area to the waterfall. Once we got close there was broken glass everywhere so keep that in mind if you’re going. Fine with boots but not great if you’re taking dogs. Not too much to see and probably not worth the drive if you’re coming from far but an okay place to visit once.
