A beautiful spot with beachfront on the Sound and Oyster Bay. Perfect for sunsets and walking. They also have a dog park!
Great place to take young children. You have the bay on one side and access to the Sound on the other. You’d never think you’re on Long Island when you look around at the surrounding landscape. You can see why Billy Joel fell in love with the area.
Hands down my favorite beach. It’s so peaceful, clean, and quite. I do not mind taking the hour drive to come here. This beach is good for picnics, and fishing as well. I’m also amazed at all the marine creatures I find like little crabs that walks around. Last time I came, me and my cousins freaked out because we thought we saw a stingray. Come to find out, it was a dead horseshoes crab lol. We were kinda scared to get back in the water after that. Beware of the jellyfish problem though. They’re EVERYWHERE.
We came to take a quick walk by the beach. There was plenty of parking with a nearby dog park and sports field. There also is a storage area for kayaks for people who come here regularly. We did come during cold weather in the rain so it was pretty empty. The shore is pretty short here so the water does spill out far. Lots of shells but we did come here looking for sea glass and didn’t find any. There are many birds here and lots of usual beach plants closer inland. Overall the beach was clean and quiet.
Visited the beach off-season on winter weekend. Plentiful parking with very few cars around, bay side looked more picturesque and fun to explore. The Sound side showed some sand erosion, I guess it is a constant issue for this beach as it looks more sandy than typical rocky North Shore beaches. Underpass links bay side / parking with sound side of the beach (similar to Tobay town beach).
