If you’re looking for a pet-friendly trail or dog-friendly hiking spot in Baxter, Minnesota, the Paul Bunyan State Trail – Baxter Trailhead Parking is a fantastic place to start your adventure. This park serves as a gateway to the well-known Paul Bunyan State Trail, offering direct access to miles of paved pathways for you and your pup to explore scenic nature walks, especially beautiful in the fall. The area is peaceful and features ample parking for convenient access.
While the trail provides a serene setting and well-maintained paths in most sections, be mindful of occasional bumps and natural surroundings, such as bee hives. Picnic tables are available, making it easy to enjoy a meal outdoors during your visit. This spot is popular for walking, hiking, and dog-friendly outings in central Minnesota, making it a great dog park alternative for those seeking open-air experiences rather than a traditional fenced play area.
Ok but it needs maybe some Tlc on the Path with bad bumps Be conscious of the really, really big bees hive, I don’t remember what mile marker, it would be nice to have more than a straight path like the others we’ve been on, went up to nestle, had lunch and ice cream. It was a chilly day, but it was nice to go.

I was pleased to see the free trail were still lovely. Their picnic tables there and it’s pretty peaceful. My only comment is that there’s no trash receptacles anywhere.
