Forest Community Park, located at 13900 South Harrells Ferry Rd in Baton Rouge, LA, is a versatile destination for pet families looking for outdoor fun. The park is known for its family-friendly atmosphere, well-maintained trails perfect for dog-friendly hiking, and open green spaces where pets and owners can enjoy a relaxing day together. While some amenities like the playground and splash area may be affected by ongoing construction and maintenance, the trails and open areas remain accessible and welcoming to dog owners.
Visitors appreciate the park’s natural surroundings, providing pleasant walking environments and opportunities for both exercise and relaxation. Shaded areas may be limited near benches, so coming on cooler days or bringing your own shade is recommended. Forest Community Park occasionally hosts local events—check BREC’s Facebook page for updates. With pet-friendly trails and plenty of room for dogs to roam on leash, this Baton Rouge dog park spot remains a favorite, especially for those looking for outdoor adventure near the city.
Always nice, playground (jungle gym) not available due to a construction project. No dates on signage.
The water area is up, trails are nice. They also have events here sometimes, so worth checking BREC’s Facebook.
I loved the adventure and trails. It’s better maintained than most state parks
This park used to be my favorite one, but it’s has literally been under construction for at least four-five months. I only came because at least the splash still worked but now that is closed for maintenance too. Also, the benches are not in shaded areas. So come when it’s cool. Only thing your child can do is the swings and jungle gym.
I usually love this park. Today was a disappointment. I went to let my 3 children blow off some steam between errands, and the playground was closed. I wish I knew before I went, and that’s why I’m posting this. It looks like it could be closed through the summer. They climbed the large spider web and did a little on the swings, but were genuinely disappointed at the lack of equipment and lack of other children.
I love BREC but this is unacceptable. It’s the middle of July & the entire park is basically out of order. Whatever needs to be done should have been taken care of in the down season. Do better.
