FAQ for Essex Woods in Bangor Maine:
Came here to ride my bike. Trails are very rough with many rocks and roots. This place is better suited for hiking.
Lovely woods, but trails are not well marked so it’shard to tell where you’re going. There’s a trail around a pond, a babbling brook, and a mix of forest and fields. Several mountain biking trails.
Quiet walking/hiking/biking trails, rough in spots but not too hard.
A great little hidden gem outside of Bangor. The main trail loop is wide and has tons of little side trails for the more adventurous type. Nothing too hard, though.
Neat place to walk bike and let the dog run around
Great walking/bike trail system that’s good for dogs and kids. Had a fun time here
I always saw some people walking on a path near a bog beside the interstate, but I never knew where it originated until now. I am so glad I found it. This area not only has a walking/jogging trail, but there are bike trails, a dog park, a kids park, as well as a basketball court, and plenty of parking space. While most of the trails/paths are maintained well, the outer areas could use improvements, especially with the downed trees and slippery muddy areas.
Great place to walk, bring your dogs. Dog pens for meeting with other dogs. There are also trails to walk.
