Located at 4301 University Ave, this popular dog park in Bakersfield, CA offers a spacious, well-maintained area for your canine companions to run and play. With ample acreage for high-energy dogs and two entrances for convenience, it has become a go-to spot for local pet owners looking for a dog-friendly, accessible space. The park is wheelchair accessible and even offers picnic tables, making it inviting to families and pet lovers alike.
Dog owners appreciate the strong sense of community and the freedom for dogs to exercise off-leash in this open, unfenced space. While it can get busy, especially during peak hours, the park’s size allows plenty of room for dogs to play and socialize. Note that there are not separate areas for small and large dogs, and currently no water fountains on site, so be sure to bring your own water for your pet.
HUGE running area for dogs. Positives: it’s huge, it’s well mown and watered, there are 2 entrances, and it’s in a nice area.
Negatives: it’s acreage huge, one of the entrances does not have a sally port, there are no separate areas for different size dogs, and no water.
If your dog needs to run, this is the place. If your dog doesn’t come when called, and you don’t want a hike, take your dog somewhere else.
It’s a nice big space, most of the dogs seem happy and playing. People seem friendly. But I just sat with my dog and watched from a distance. We saw two fights in the hour that we were here. I won’t allow my dog to play with strange dogs but it’s a nice place to watch.
It’s a great place to bring your dogs as well as your kids. We have a very good core group of people that brings their dogs. What’s really great is all the dogs play well together and your able to visit with the humans.

People make no effort to control their dogs, often bring too many (large) dogs, and many have started quarles because of this.
