🐾 How to Handle Aggressive Dogs at the Dog Park – Real Advice from Dog Owners
Visiting the dog park can be a joyful activity for both you and your furry friend—but aggressive encounters can quickly […]
Located at 6101 Coffee Rd, the Coffee Road Small Dog Park is a fenced dog park in Bakersfield, California dedicated to giving your dogs space to run off-leash. The park is wheelchair accessible and welcomes both children and dogs, making it a good place for families to enjoy outdoor time together. Though amenities are minimal, locals appreciate the security provided by a double-gated entrance and the park’s convenient location near Valley Strong Credit Union and other local spots.
Visitors should note that the area is a repurposed drainage pond, and reviews mention challenges like uneven, steep terrain, the presence of holes, and stickers/thorns in the grass. Parking is not immediately adjacent—you’ll likely need to park at the bank and walk to the entrance. The park is lit at night, offering safe visibility during evening visits, but be wary of ground squirrels and possible muddy conditions after rain.
I rated this place a 1 star because my dogs escaped from the big holes under the fence. Second this place is covered in stickers/thorns (aka: soliva sessilis seed). I spent most of the hour taking the stickers out of my dog paws. Also parking is an issue. You have to park at the bank and walk to the park.
2 miles from the parking lot, and I’m tired before I even get there from trying to restrain my dog. Infested with ground squirrels. They’re cute, but I worry my dog will get bit.
It’s a little far from a place to park if ur not already out walking your dogs but other than that it has street lights so u can see at night, lots of area to run and has a double gate so ur dogs can’t get out on the busy street.
Worst dog park ever. It’s a very steep drainage pond with a fence around it. You have to walk past 60 yrds of beautiful flat, unused green lawn from Valley Strong Credit Union’s parking lot to get to this small fenced off hole in the ground suitable for mountain goats. From there, you can look at another beautiful 150 yds of unused green belt along busy Coffee Rd. Not going back.
Horrible dog park..Dont bother. It’s a drainage area that has a fence. It’s steep, muddy and full of big and small holes. Dogs will hurt themselves and break legs there.
Not a place you want you dog to run around in. Some holes go so deep that my ball rolled down and will never been seen again. Very small area flat with no holes I tried to play in..but my dog dropped the ball and it was Luke the last hole in miniature golf…YOU ARE NOT GETTING THE BALL BACK.
