Edmon Trail is a scenic, well-maintained out-and-back trail located in Avonmore, PA, perfect for those seeking dog-friendly hiking or pet-friendly outdoor adventures. The trail is known for its beautiful river views, occasional waterfalls, and access to swimming spots, making it a favorite for dog owners who want to explore nature with their four-legged companions. The light foot traffic on this end of the trail provides a tranquil experience, ideal for both solo walkers and families with dogs.
Visitors will find a dedicated parking area for about a dozen cars, with convenient signage from the road. The trail itself features wide, mostly tar and chipped paths, with benches situated periodically for resting. Although the descent from the parking lot is steep, the payoff includes stunning sights and relaxing riverside stops. With strong cell service and a welcoming atmosphere for kids and pets alike, Edmon Trail stands out as one of the best pet-friendly trails in Avonmore, Pennsylvania.
Trail traffic is light on this end so you are much less likely to run into other people. Little stops along the river to swim or just hang out. The hill back to the car is steep and long so keep that in mind while out walking
Such a beautiful trail! The short road to the parking lot looked like someone’s driveway but there’s a sign to show you where to go. There is a pretty steep trek down from the parking lot at the start of the trail. Definitely not an easy flat trail. However, once you make it down the first descent, it’s SUCH a beautiful view. The trail is wide and there are plenty of benches scattered sporadically along the way. Cell service was adequate which is always a factor as someone who tends to walk trails solo or with my dog. This had to be one of the most beautiful trail walks I’ve taken this year.
Beautiful well kept trail.
Parking for 12 cars or so. Really steep heading in compared to the Apollo side. Mostly tara and chipped. Great hiking, views. Tons of kayaks floating by on nice days.
Nice hike, great views of the river also a waterfall
