🐾 Kids at the Dog Park: Real Stories, Safety Risks & Smarter Solutions
If you’ve spent time at an off-leash park, you’ve probably seen it:A parent strolls in with a stroller 🚼 or […]
Avon Lake Dog Park is a spacious and well-maintained dog park featuring a large enclosed area with fine gravel ground to avoid mud, many tall trees providing ample shade, and various agility obstacles for dogs to enjoy. It includes amenities such as a water fountain for dogs, restrooms, seating with benches (some with shade), and a playground nearby for children. The park is wheelchair accessible with accessible entrance and parking. There is a small dog area, though it is notably very small. Parking is available but can be muddy. Owners should be mindful of park boundaries as dogs off-leash outside the designated area have caused issues on the nearby baseball fields.
Absolutely disappointing! The owners of this place clearly have no regard for the field or other people using the facilities. Not only do they let their dogs off the leash, but they also allow them to roam freely and poop all over the baseball fields. This isn’t just one person, but multiple owners letting their dogs treat the baseball diamonds like their personal playground. It’s frustrating to see them avoid the designated dog park made for that exact purpose. It’s disrespectful and makes it nearly impossible to enjoy the fields for their intended use. Extremely irresponsible and inconsiderate behavior – especially in Avon Lake.
I’ve never been to a dog park before, but I thought this was nice. It was clean, big and people were paying attention to their dogs so it wasn’t like the dogs were just running around unsupervised.
Would recommend it to others.
Dog park was clean & had nice obstacles for the dogs to use. Also had restrooms.
This is a good dog park. It’s completely covered with very fine gravel, and that means there’s never really any mud in it. That’s always a good thing. There is a small dog area but it is absolutely tiny and quite frankly, they shouldn’t have bothered given how small it is. The rest of it is lovely and large with filled with very tall trees, so it’s always shady even in the summer. There are obstacle course like things throughout the park for the dogs to play on, though I could wish there were more benches for the humans. There’s also water for the dog and restrooms for you which is also nice, in a playground for the kids. The parking lot is always muddy though, so beware of that. All in all a good dog park. Like any place, you have to watch the owners more than the dogs. When that happens, I take my dog and go. It’s the only smart move for safety for everyone.
Loved this place, and Hans liked it too. Many benches with shade. Water fountain inside enclosed area. Lots of obstacles and trees, which I think Hans enjoyed more than the obstacles. The ground is small crushed stone (popcorn), so be careful if you wear flip flops.
