Sand Lake Walking Trail is a small, quiet park ideal for short hikes and walks with dogs and children. The trails are generally well marked but vary in condition, with some areas overgrown especially on biking paths. It features easy loop trails through scenic woods and grassy areas with wildflowers, making it great for a peaceful outdoor experience. Parking is available on a stone lot and the park is family-friendly, though it lacks amenities like porta potties and water fountains. It is suited for quick, kid-friendly hikes but may need some maintenance work in certain sections.

Nice trail, easy for kids. Grassy areas well maintained & lined with beautiful wild flowers. Forest areas nicely marked. Some dead trees lying ominously over the trail in spots that should be removed.

Short, easy trails, well marked. They keep adding more so there will be more to do. Nice picnic area and good scenery as you walk the trail. It’s close to us, so that is a benefit. Good for a quick quiet walk in the woods.

Looks relatively new. There’s a sign there now that doesn’t show on the Google Street View as of this post. Sign is tilted one way and there’s a lot of brush so it’s easy to miss. Single lane road to get in/out so be mindful of that as you turn in. Parking area is stone but we were able to get through no problem in a basic sedan.

Nice loop trail for a quick walk in the woods. No major gradients, only took 20 minutes or so to get back to the parking lot.

I found the hike to be the perfect short and sweet outdoor experience, but I would warn all people to start the trails where the metal fence is and not where the kiosk is. The cool thing about the trails with high brush was that they had a lot of decorated inspirational rocks. If you go to the blue trail behind the kiosk, you’ll be up to your knees in brush. I’m not sure if that was part of the bike trail or not. I found the walking trails that were well maintained to be short and enjoyable. I didn’t realize there was a dog park here but it may need more upkeep.

We were going out to dinner at Tatu Tacos & Tequila (highly recommended) and looked for a park nearby. It’s a small park but I got a two mile walk in (while doing a little backtracking). It was a beautiful day after a day of heavy rain so the trails that they say might be wet were wet. I had on trail runners so I didn’t care about getting my feet wet. I could have kept off the wet trail and still had a good walk.

No one else was there on a Tuesday afternoon. How nice to have a private park. The downside is that many of the trails are overgrown. Especially the biking trails. Where are the mountain bikers? If more people walked here the trails would be in better shape.

The trails are more of a hike than walking trails. Some areas are rough with rocks and roots. Most of the trails are well marked. The biking trails are not marked as well but if you keep a lookout you can follow those trails.

I gave it 4 stars because so many trails are overgrown and not maintained plus no porta potties. Another issue is no good map of the park. There is a survey map but it’s behind glass and not easy to take a picture of to follow on your hike. It’s a great park to take a short hike and I plan to go back.
