I visited this dog park with my dog, Mars, who is a gentle giant and always respectful of other dogs. Upon arriving, we stood near our car while another man was leaving with his two dogs. As he exited the gate, one of his dogs slipped its collar and immediately attacked Mars. Mars was sitting in between my legs on the lead following my commands. I yelled at the man to get his dog under control, but instead of taking action, he dropped the leash of his smaller dog, which then started biting Mars’s legs. Meanwhile, the other dog was still latched onto Mars’s neck.

I had no choice but to physically intervene by punching the larger dog several times to get it to release its grip. Only then did the man manage to get his dogs back into his truck, but it was a struggle. This was a very unsettling experience, and I was disappointed by the lack of responsibility the other dog owner showed. At no point did he try to de-escalate the situation, nor did he seem to care about what was happening to my dog.

I’ve been to other dog parks before, and I’ve never encountered anything like this. Mars is a calm, friendly dog who gets along with others, and he didn’t retaliate at all during the attack—he just stood there and took it. I expect more from both dog owners and park management when it comes to the safety of our pets.

Nice place to unload and bond with your dog or ride bikes or go jogging down the scenic river trail or even go fishing on the riverbank. There is men’s and women’s restrooms on site also!

We don’t have our pups anymore, but when we did, we’d take them there sometimes. They sure loved the free run because we didn’t have a fenced backyard. I hope they get more things to put inside. Ramps, tunnels and such.

Our puppy had a fantastic time running and playing fetch with his new ball. He got to meet other dog friends and they even have a puppy water fountain for them to get a drink when they are thirsty. We will definitely be going back!

I love this place! It’s perfect for dogs of all shapes and sizes. It could use a watering hole and some more benches in the shade, but other than that it is a wonderful quiet place to take you fur baby for some safe exercise.
