Fort Gordon Dog Park is a popular dog park in Augusta, GA, conveniently located near the Boundless Playground on 39th Street within Fort Gordon. This well-maintained park offers separate, fully fenced play areas for small and large dogs (under and over 35 lbs.), giving pets of all sizes a chance to play safely off-leash. The gravel surface makes cleaning up easy, and the park is known for its abundance of dog waste stations and bag dispensers to help keep the area tidy.
Water fountains for both pets and people are available, plus shaded seating and some landscaping for comfort. There is basic agility equipment for dogs to enjoy, making it a great spot for exercise and play. The dog park is wheelchair accessible, has nearby parking, and is located close to family-friendly amenities. Open from dawn until dusk, it rarely gets crowded, making for a relaxed visit for Augusta’s pet-loving community.
I’ve been using this dog park for the past few years since it opened. Very well kept and there’s separate play areas for large and small dogs. The separation weight is 35 lbs. Plenty of poop bags in case you forgot them. The gravel makes it easy to clean up. There is shaded seating, and landscaping around the fence line. Convenient water fountains for both you and your pet. There are also a few obstacles they can navigate for fun. Just wish that the mister worked.
If you live on the base is convenient and fun to walk to. The rocks cut my dog’s feet.
Good place to exercise dogs, well maintained.
Whoever designed the place clearly didn’t have a big dog. The stone surface gets between paw pads and toes and doesn’t make for a nice surface for big dogs to run on. The sprayer never works. There’s not enough shade.
On the pro side, it’s large, has two sections, and there are bag dispensers and bins everywhere. (Not that a large percentage of people still don’t bother to pick up after their dogs, but that happens everywhere.)
Very convenient place to take my pup.
Pros: lots of space, agility equipment for the dogs, water fountain for you and your dog, shaded seating, lots of poo clean up stations and free doggy clean up bags, a doggy greeting area and two sides one for dogs 35 and under and one for dogs 35lbs and over.
Cons: Not lot of shade, despite the abundance of clean up stations there’s poo everywhere, the ground is cover in gravel and they get hot in the sun
General info:
Its open from dawn until dusk. Its never super busy and you can usually get in and out without running into another dog. Wear sneakers. The little dog side has more shade in the morning and the big dog side has more shade in the late afternoon.
Please please please clean up after your dogs!!!
