Located in the heart of Atlanta, Georgia, Renaissance Dog Park offers a dedicated space for dogs and their owners to enjoy off-leash play and socialization. The park features separate areas for small and large dogs, providing a safer experience tailored to your pet’s size and temperament. Recent improvements and community efforts have transformed Renaissance Park into a family-friendly and clean green space ideal for urban dog lovers. While the park is set in an urban area and shares space with members of the local community, pet owners report a welcoming atmosphere and plenty of room for dogs to romp and sniff.
Dog amenities include secure fencing, double-gated entrances for added safety, and a water fountain to keep pets hydrated. Waste bag stations are available, and shady spots allow for a comfortable visit even on warm days. Although there may be a few natural urban quirks—like sparse grass and the presence of fellow park-goers—the park remains popular for its accessibility, room to run, and opportunities for socializing with neighbors and their dogs. Whether you’re a Midtown resident or just visiting, Renaissance Dog Park is a convenient and enjoyable dog park in Atlanta, Georgia.
There’s no grass in the dog park. There is a lot of homeless that camp there but for me it wasn’t really the best dog park. I like that there was a fence yes but there were no signs that someone comes and cleans and treats the grass there was no grass I did only go in the small dog park section based on the reviews
Lower park was empty of people and dogs. It was super clean and largely free of overgrowth. I think it’s the park for smaller dogs, but I didn’t see the upper park so can’t be sure. The water fountain was clean and operational. Waste bag stand available. Didn’t see if stocked. Dog found a tennis ball and had the time of his life. Could use a bench.
There’s no help for the unhoused in this city, and there’s nothing in Renaissance Park other than the dog parks, so I’m fine with people getting out of the sun and chillin here. My dog had a great time and no one bothered us.
I just moved a block away a couple of months ago, and so I walk over there a lot. There are two areas — one for large dogs and one for small dogs. The homeless people hang out in the large dog area. There is a fountain for them to bathe in and so forth, so good for them. They have generally been polite and friendly, but there are a lot of chicken bones and other food remnants on the ground, so I don’t let my dog off leash in that area. But the small dog area is relatively fine if you just want to let your dog off leash. There are rarely any other dogs there. Just make sure both gates are closed first.
Renaissance Park has gone through an AMAZING restoration and beautification. The Renaissance Park Neighbors group have taken this park from total despair to a clean family friendly urban green space. The upper dog park areas allow dogs so much room to run and play while the lower park is an oasis of shady trees and grass to take a leisurely stroll. If you haven’t visited Renaissance Park you will be amazed with it’s transformation and abundance of nature. Love it!!!
Beautiful, Southern space for dogs to romp and sniff. Water provided. Sparsely-attended during our three visits March 2023
