Renaissance Dog Park

Renaissance Dog Park is a well-maintained urban green space featuring separate areas for small and large dogs. It offers a spacious environment for dogs to run and play, clean water fountains for pets, and shaded areas with trees. The park is fenced, providing a safe off-leash experience, though it has no grass and limited seating. The park is known for its community-driven restoration, creating a peaceful oasis even with occasional presence of homeless individuals. Waste bags are available, and visitors appreciate the park’s cleanliness and natural beauty.

There’s no grass in the dog park. There is a lot of homeless that camp there but for me it wasn’t really the best dog park. I like that there was a fence yes but there were no signs that someone comes and cleans and treats the grass there was no grass I did only go in the small dog park section based on the reviews
Lower park was empty of people and dogs. It was super clean and largely free of overgrowth. I think it’s the park for smaller dogs, but I didn’t see the upper park so can’t be sure. The water fountain was clean and operational. Waste bag stand available. Didn’t see if stocked. Dog found a tennis ball and had the time of his life. Could use a bench.
There’s no help for the unhoused in this city, and there’s nothing in Renaissance Park other than the dog parks, so I’m fine with people getting out of the sun and chillin here. My dog had a great time and no one bothered us.
I just moved a block away a couple of months ago, and so I walk over there a lot. There are two areas — one for large dogs and one for small dogs. The homeless people hang out in the large dog area. There is a fountain for them to bathe in and so forth, so good for them. They have generally been polite and friendly, but there are a lot of chicken bones and other food remnants on the ground, so I don’t let my dog off leash in that area. But the small dog area is relatively fine if you just want to let your dog off leash. There are rarely any other dogs there. Just make sure both gates are closed first.
Renaissance Park has gone through an AMAZING restoration and beautification. The Renaissance Park Neighbors group have taken this park from total despair to a clean family friendly urban green space. The upper dog park areas allow dogs so much room to run and play while the lower park is an oasis of shady trees and grass to take a leisurely stroll. If you haven’t visited Renaissance Park you will be amazed with it’s transformation and abundance of nature. Love it!!!
Beautiful, Southern space for dogs to romp and sniff. Water provided. Sparsely-attended during our three visits March 2023
