Nestled in Ashville, NY, the Goose Creek Valley Greenway Preserve offers a peaceful retreat for both nature lovers and dog owners. This hidden gem is known for its serene setting, pet-friendly trails, and opportunities for dog-friendly hiking along the creek and through the woods. The park is particularly praised for its quiet, natural beauty and its welcoming atmosphere for kids and dogs alike.
While not a traditional dog park with enclosures, Goose Creek Valley Greenway Preserve features scenic trails, picnic tables, and an observation deck perfect for relaxing and observing wildlife with your furry friend. There’s direct access to Goose Creek, making it a local favorite for those looking to let their pets splash or play in the water. Visitors recommend parking near the road, especially during muddy conditions, and wearing proper footwear. The park is a wonderful spot for a picnic, launching a kayak, or simply exploring the woodlands with your pet in the Ashville, New York area.
This was a nice launch for a peaceful trip up stream to fish. Beautiful nature preserve. Lots of rare flowers and small happy fish. The ADA rollers and rails were super helpful. But, I don’t know how someone with mobility assistance needs could get a kayak to the launch. Maybe if someone in a wheelchair had someone carry their kayak for them. We ended up pulling off the highway and using a little cut through path closer to the creek because carrying a kayak from the parking area would be rough even for our more athletic bodies. It’s about 1/5 of a mile from the kiosk to the kayak launch.
Beautiful little spot to take your kids or dogs to play in the crick or woods
It is a very serene hideaway with much potential. The driveway is very rutted (currently muddy). I would suggest parking near road and walking back but it’s still a work in progress and you will want proper footwear.
Lovely little hidden trail with picnic tables and observation deck to observe wildlife.
A tiny gem in Ashville.
