Dog Walk Park in Asheville, North Carolina, offers a convenient spot for local dog owners to enjoy pet-friendly trails, river views, and a quiet greenway experience. While it isn’t a traditional fenced dog park, the location features walking paths, easy river access, mature trees providing shade, picnic tables, grills, and multiple trash bins for waste disposal. There are several entry points from the Walmart parking lot, making it a convenient stop for travelers and locals alike.
This dog-friendly area features a paved greenway and lovely riverfront trail, providing a peaceful walk, scenic views, and opportunities to take a short break from city life. Owners should keep dogs on a leash, as off-leash play is not permitted. The park is rarely crowded, often providing a tranquil experience for you and your pet. While the area has seen improvement in cleanliness and safety recently, occasional litter and muddy spots may occur, especially near the river and after rain. Restrooms are not available, so plan accordingly.
Nice and quiet, lovely walk. There are many trash cans along the way to throw your doggie bag in, which is nice. River access. One review said that it’s very littered but I disagree. Yes, there are the occasional piece of trash but no more so than any park. I like that it’s so convenient to Walmart.

This is not a dog park, and definitely not somewhere you can let your dog off leash. It’s in the walmart parking lot and a greenway runs through it. Very poorly named.

A walking area connected to the Walmart parking lot. Was used as a camp by dozens of homeless people during the pandemic, once they were all kicked out- there was a bunch of trash left for a while. All that explains the negative reviews.
Looks a lot better these days though! It’s NEVER busy, I’ve only ever seen maybe 4 other people here. It’s clean and if you know where to look, there’s an amazing view of the river off the path.
TLDR: Used to be a mess, now it’s absolutely fine.

This is used to be a great place to walk with your dog or without. You need to keep a leash on your dog which most people don’t do. Don’t bother walking down by the bridge because there’s so much garbage down there and walkers that you need to be careful of. It’s an unfortunate chain of events that have happened down here 😞

Bleak. Flanked by Swannanoa River road traffic and noise on one side and a Wal Mart parking lot bursting with garbage on the other. Trash and litter though out, despite ample garbage cans. Only park in Asheville I’ve felt creeped out in.
