They did a really nice job with this park. Great water access, trails, boat rentals, picnic area with grills, really nice bathrooms. I’m a big fan! Plenty of parking and it doesn’t require a hike to enjoy the water (although you certainly can knock out a few miles).
Went and explored the new park and facilities, everything is wonderfully maintained to include the public restrooms!
Fishing, kayaking, hiking and more
The pavilions were all reserved so there were only 2 picnic tables and they were taken. Most of the parks trails are not stroller friendly, but there are some paved paths and well mulched ones as well. The signs all say no swimming, but we saw some people jumping in
This new park opened last October and is located on the east side of the reservoir. It offers a welcome center, pavilions, kayak rentals and numerous trails around the reservoir. Great place for a family to explore nature by land or water
Beautiful, peaceful, and well-designed.
Reservoir Park is one of the most scenic and relaxing places I’ve visited in Virginia. The walking trails around the water are clean, well-marked, and offer plenty of shade. Perfect for a morning walk, afternoon paddle, or a peaceful picnic.
The park has excellent facilities — clean restrooms, picnic pavilions, a boat launch, and even kayak and paddleboard rentals. The views of Beaverdam Reservoir are stunning, especially at sunrise and sunset.
There are also educational signs throughout the park explaining local wildlife and environmental conservation, which adds a thoughtful touch.
Parking is free and easy, and the space never feels too crowded. Whether you’re here for fishing, a family outing, or just some quiet nature time, Reservoir Park delivers.
Highly recommend bringing bug spray and a camera — it’s a nature lover’s dream!
Reservoir Park offers a scenic c7 miles trail with a moderate 240-feet elevation gain, making it ideal for both casual walkers and avid hikers. The route winds through peaceful wooded areas and alongside the reservoir, providing great views and plenty of wildlife sightings. It’s a well-maintained, quiet escape perfect for a refreshing outdoor workout or a leisurely nature stroll. Multiple free parking zones are there and bathrooms are available near to the main parking lot beside the visitor center. Walking paths are mix and match of well paved, mulches and gravels. Boat rentals are available here.
