the women’s bathroom clean, though the men’s bathroom and showers needed repair. the park was very nice we enjoyed camping there and would go again.
The campground area was not maintained as well as other state parks we visited in Colorado. Host’s were friendly and accommodating but bathrooms and showers were dirty. Reported dripping faucets. The park is probably fine if you have a boat but was not our cup of tea.
Overall, I thought Navajo State Park was pretty nice. It’s not often a state park has full hook ups for an RV. The sites themselves are of decent size, enough space for Cornhole and such. There was a decent hiking trail just off the site that you can take for quite a while if you want. I did about 2.5mi one way and didn’t see the end. The marina and boat launch are pretty nice as far as boat launches go. I’m sure I’ll be back down there again, to check out more of the lake. Water was a bit cold so we didn’t spend a whole lot of time out there.
Navajo State Park is beautiful 😍 late April is a little early to come I would come later in May. It was generally very windy and it got very cold at night but as long as you’re prepared these things should be no problem 😊 we had a gorgeous overlook of the lake! There’s even a small trail to hike down to the lake from the elevated campgrounds. The people at the front office were very friendly. Buying firewood is a must! There is very little natural fallen timber to burn and what there is burns super fast.
Navajo State park is in southern Colorado . Near the San Juan mountain range and a Southern Ute Reservation. They have some really cool rocks that show how the indigenous would communicate and tell stories with pictographs and hieroglyphs. The reservoir is surrounded by beautiful views. Unfortunately we did not get to go on the reservoir because of wind (we have an inflatable kayak). We hiked some of the trails and had a fun time with that. There are a few short trails, if you like hiking and doing long trails there is not much of that.
We camped at Arobeles Point camp ground, it was about 20 minutes from the visitors center. We thought the campground was clean and nice. Especially for a ‘primitive campground”. It had tent pads, a picnic table, a fire pit, and bathrooms. The campsite we were at was shaded by trees it was a great campsite! I felt we had more privacy there than of we had camped at one of the main campgrounds. If you want to be able to launch a paddle board or kayak from your campground we suggest windsurf beach (it’s not a sandy beach) but it goes right to the water for easy launching.
