Keg Creek Trailhead – Parking Area offers nature lovers and pet owners a beautiful destination in Appling, Georgia. While not a traditional fenced dog park, this site serves as a gateway to pet-friendly trails, perfect for dog-friendly hiking experiences. It’s a local favorite for those seeking outdoor adventures with their furry friends in the Augusta region, providing easy access to natural landscapes and recreational paths.
The parking area is conveniently located and provides direct access to Keg Creek’s scenic hiking trails where leashed dogs are welcome. It is ideal for owners who enjoy hiking or exploring with their dogs. Plan for your pet’s needs—carry water, waste bags, and any other essentials for a comfortable outing.
Went to fish, didn’t catch anything and the bridge is noisy sitting by it. It is very nice and clean though, but the ramp to get to the shoreline fishing is really steep so if you don’t have to take a lot of stuff don’t. Overall nice place to fish or watch the birds that have nests built out of mud under the bridge. I would say if nothing else go for that reason, it’s quiet a sight to see!

We came here to fish. It’s a nice area under the bridge (grateful for the shade). Only walked to the wood line and turned around but it looks like it is a nice trail.

Real good trail if you’re looking for a long one. You will hear the highway for about 30 minutes into the trail but it quiets down. Ran into about 7-8 real muddy spots where I had to go into the brush to get around. Theres a few creek crossings and around mile 5-6 I had to get my ankles wet because the lake came up over the trail. Once you come out on the other side at the road there is plenty of space on the bridge to walk back to the car without crowding up next to traffic. Highly recommend if you want a moderate hike to take up a couple of hours.

There is an interesting walk along the Bartram Trail, if you go under the bridge. But then it goes into the woods where you will hear the road traffic for a long time! We did not go far!
I hope to return another time to try the other direction.
