Olson Park is a family-friendly and dog-friendly park located in Ann Arbor, offering a range of amenities for both humans and pets. The park features a fenced dog park area where dogs can play off-leash, making it a top choice for pet owners searching for a dog park in Ann Arbor. Although the dog area is on the smaller side, it’s conveniently nestled near walking and biking trails, picnic tables, playgrounds, and a pond for fishing, making it a versatile spot for a day out with the whole family.
The park is known for accessibility features such as wheelchair-accessible entrances and parking. Picnic areas and barbecue grills are available for gatherings, and there’s a large playground with equipment and a sand pit for kids. While there are public restrooms onsite, note they are composting toilets without running water, though hand sanitizer is provided. The park can get muddy after rain, so plan accordingly if you’re visiting with your pet.
The dog park here is quite small. I go to Swift Run Dog Park very often so I thought this dog park would be similar. But it’s a lot smaller and my dog was bored. However, the playground and pavilion are very near me and my husband and daughter enjoyed fishing at the pond. Overall, very nice park.
Nice playground area near paved trails. Bathrooms available. Great for families
We mostly explored the biking trails. They offer a good amount of climbs and drops but it is meant more for summer riding as the trails get muddy easily.
If you can block out the noise from the expressway next to the park, it’s a gorgeous bit of land, with tons of flowers for pollinators in the warm months. There’s a fenced dog park and walking and mountain bike trails, and a few courts to play ball.
The children’s playground has great climbers and a generous sand pit (with a digger and a sand table).
The pavilion is a great side to rent for parties. Especially kids parties as it’s right near the playground.
And yes, there are restrooms! I believe they are those composting types. No running water to wash hands but stocked with hand sanitizer. They are generally pretty clean too.
Nice park! Dog area is a mud pit after any rain and it would be great to have a large and small dog park instead of just one. The walk is nice except on the back part near the highway where it is very loud. Overall a nice place to have a cookout, play on the playground, or bring a well-behaved dog!
