Haggetts Pond Trail in Andover, Massachusetts offers a scenic, dog-friendly hiking experience perfect for locals and visitors seeking pet-friendly trails. This well-maintained trail winds along picturesque Haggetts Pond, offering a peaceful setting for walking, jogging, birdwatching, and even fishing from the banks. With abundant shade provided by large trees, it’s a cool escape during warmer months, and the trails are wide with several side paths to provide variety. The trail is good for kids as well, making it a family-friendly destination.
While Haggetts Pond Trail is not a dedicated off-leash dog park and lacks fenced areas, dogs are welcome on the trails when kept on a leash. The trail is known for its cleanliness and the welcoming atmosphere among fellow dog owners. Parking is available but can be limited during busy times, especially on weekends. Although there are no restrooms or dedicated dog amenities like water fountains or waste stations, the upcoming updates promise new paved paths and benches, making it even more accessible and enjoyable for all visitors and their pets.
Nice quiet trail during the week. No clue what weekends look like. Well maintained trails. Flat and several side trails to keep you entertained. Looks to be popular for shore fishing. (Strange boat/kayak/canoe prohibition… Only locally licensed rowboats allowed on lake. Limited parking so that would be an issue if it gets busy. No fees or restrooms.
Other than a few piles of horse poop its a nice place to hike and explore
A wonderful little walking trail running past Haggett’s pond. Parking here is relatively easy but not a ton of spaces. The trail itself is well-kept and clean with many interesting stopping points along the walk.
Great place to walk, lots of trails, well shaded with big trees. Fishing from the banks is fun, and there are always lots of dogs to say hello to.
I Can’t wait for the trail to reopen soon! (Hopefully August 2025?) I’m thrilled about the updates. My husband and I used to walk our dog here for years, but since he injured his back, my husband has a tough time on this trail and the others in town. Walking around the PLaystead track gets pretty boring for him. So having a paved path in the woods to walk on , with turtles and herons and frogs near, and benches, will be huge for him. And me. Don’t listen to the complainers. I am psyched that Andover is doing this.
