Mt. Lowe is a good workout trail. I walked a good 7 miles RT up to Echo mountain trail taking in the historical information on each frame about the trail ram and its landmarks that are left behind. Beautiful and really hope this place was alive, working and functional it will be a go to spot, too bad a fire caused the abandonment of this awesome place. Today its amazing to walk it and watch a sunset or a sunrise and bring young generations to explore it.
Very few places to park. Only some areas have shade. Many people mountain bike here so be aware when heading out on the trail. I went in may and it wasn’t too hot out yet. Many connecting trails in the area
What a site to see! You definitely feel like you’re in the wild. You get to enjoy the beautiful views of the mountains. The singing of the birds and the woodpecker drilling into the tree creates this sense of beauty and peace. The trail however has many inclines and I highly recommend to wear very good hiking shoes due to the slippery rocks. Definitely a great place to get lost in nature’s beauty.
Very good hike. A lot of shaded spots in the morning, going uphill, not so much on our way down. Beautiful views, specially at the Inspiration Point. I would recommend this spot to whoever likes long hikes (around 12 miles)
This is also a trailhead for Dawn Mine Trail. Parking lot only has 8 spots, so go early (7-8am) for parking on the highway.
Trail starts on pavement, moves to a dirt trail, and then down to the water.
I went 2.04 miles in and didn’t quite get to the mine (I heard it was another 1.5-2 miles) but the waterfalls were beautiful! Prepare to get wet with lots of river crossings!
