Eaton Canyon Falls Trail is a dog-friendly hiking trail near LA that offers beautiful waterfall views and a natural outdoor experience. The trail is relatively easy but includes multiple stream crossings where hikers may get wet. It is popular and can be crowded, especially on weekends, so visiting early is recommended. There is plenty of street parking, and the area is known for its natural beauty and wildlife sightings. The trail is accessible, has some biking trails nearby, and is great for walking dogs. However, it does not offer secluded peace and quiet, and visitors should expect other people and dogs around.

Love it. Dog friendly. We spent around 4 hours for the hike. Love the waterfall. So fun and refreshing. We started early in morning. It’s such a beautiful day. Love hiking with water and waterfall 😇🎈

Gorgeous trail well worth the hike! Not crowded. Went in August after the record-setting rain and the waterfall was still going—you cross a bit of water a few times on the trail. It can totally dry up during other times of the year. The trail is a bit hard to follow so come prepared with a map. Plenty of free parking on the roads nearby. There are also biking trails inside. Dog friendly. Definitely recommend this hike!

This is a beautiful trail that is relatively easy with river crossings and close to LA. You don’t even have to drive up the mountains. Plenty of street parking, even on a busy day. One of the most accessible bang for your buck hikes. The trail is short compared to other fall trails.

The downside? Well, since it is so accessible and close to LA, you will be seeing LOTS of people. This is NOT a place I would recommend if you want to get away from the big city and noisy crowds, or if you want some peace and quiet. This feels more akin to Yosemite during the summer or Disneyland.

Because it is so accessible to those from all over the city, expect to see lots of dog poop bags on the ground, and lots of loud boomboxes at every corner. Thankfully it is cleaner than Azusa river, were it is typically filled with graffiti and trash. Great hike, but do expect to see a lot of the same type of LA people you would find at your local mall/walmart here.

Highly recommend to get hear early, as you will avoid most of the crowd. Even then, there was already a crowd waiting at 8:00 for the gates to open.

The nature preserve was neat 🙂

In summer, just be ready for the heat—bring water and wear sunscreen. The waterfall is a perfect spot to chill and snap some photos. It can get pretty crowded on weekends, so going early is a smart move. You might even spot some cool wildlife along the way. Overall, it’s a fun way to spend a summer day outdoors!

The waterfall trail is an easy one with amazing views, worth going. You will need to cross the stream many many times walking on some rocks – so be prepared for getting shoes and socks wet (I tried very hard to avoid stepping into water but failed in the end bc of a slippery rock)
