Spent an enjoyable morning walking the trail. The scenery was beautiful and even though it was the beginning of August in South Carolina it was not too hot to do the full trip. You can tell that the trail hasn’t been used a whole lot but the path was still clear to walk without hazard. The end of the trail is calming and worth the walk to the river and the old swing bridge. And if you can handle looking over the edge it is amazing to see how they built bridges in the 1930’s. It’s a pity that it isn’t used more and seems to be forgotten we found it by chance driving by and curious about the parking areas we pulled in and checked it out. There are benches on the trail to sit and watch and the trail has been marked with information panels and mileage markers by a local boy scout troop
Nice trail to walk, good use of an abandoned road. On busy day you can hear and see traffic as this trail runs along the highway. Thank you to the scouts for placing informational signs about local fauna and flora!
Really cool walking trail made out of an old stretch of Route 301. Lots of good shade. We walked a 3 mile length from one of the parking areas down to the end at the river. Felt like we were seeing an in-person of “life after humans”.
This Greenway needs some maintenance, I wouldn’t consider it safe for biking. You need to look down at your feet and also move around the branches, it’s growing wild in here. But it’s a beautiful hike worth the effort! We have seen a gator, several white herons and ibises, a vulture, many dragonflies and butterflies as well! And the old river bridge is a remarkable piece of history. Exciting!
Lovely trail. It’s quite short but the paths and different environments you see are so neat. The history of this road in the 30s and the American Revolution just added to it. Our dogs loved the park and the trail end (river) is a nice rest spot.
