Although the traditional playground amenities have been removed in recent years, the park boasts beautiful prairie and wooded walking paths—perfect for pet-friendly strolls, dog-friendly hiking, and quiet nature walks. The park is also known for its large, steep hill, which is a local favorite for sledding in the winter months.
Braewood Park’s welcoming environment and natural setting make it ideal for dog owners looking to enjoy an outdoor adventure with their pets. While there isn’t a dedicated dog park or fenced-in off-leash area, the winding trails and open areas offer ample space for on-leash walks and exercise with your furry friend. They used to have a small park here. They took the swings out years ago when they built the pump station. Now May 9th 2023 they just removed the basketball hoop which was used pretty much daily. They have since closed the entrance to auto traffic. And now only have hiking trails and sledding in winter. Such a shame to not have a much needed park here for residents of this area. Algonquin should reconsider.
