Westgrove Dog Park is a spacious, community-driven dog park located in Alexandria, VA, conveniently near FT Belvoir. Known for its welcoming and responsible community, the park stands out for its large, open grounds and well-maintained facilities. With plenty of parking and wheelchair accessibility, it’s easy for pet owners to enjoy some quality off-leash time with their dogs in a friendly setting.
The park features two large, fenced areas that cater to both small and large dogs. While the terrain is natural and can get muddy after rain, visitors enjoy the park’s size, the opportunity for dogs to socialize, and the sense of camaraderie among regulars. Amenities include picnic tables, ample seating, and a water fountain (though it may occasionally be out of service). Westgrove Dog Park is a favorite for dog owners seeking a pet-friendly park in Alexandria with space to run and a safe, positive community environment.
My girls enjoyed the park. Unfortunately the grounds were wet due to the weather but we will definitely return. Pet owners very responsible with their pets and quiet polite unlike the parks in Maryland where there are mounds of poop. Yes. I travel 15 miles to give my fur babies a safe and healthier experience.
I drive 30 minutes to go here, awesome people, clean dog park, the people work as a community to keep the facility clean for everyone. Great place to relax, bring your dog, play fetch, socialize your dog.
There are two areas that can be used for bigger dogs and smaller dogs.
Best dog park in my area near FT Belvoir.
It’s large and can handle many dogs. Everything is dirty like most dog parks, but the size really sets it apart from other parks. There’s no turf, a water fountain that didn’t work while I was there, and a few old toys floating around. There are two sections. They aren’t fenced off from one another, but they are large enough that you can take your dog to one or the other and get away from others if you want. No dog fights, plenty of parking, and a lot of people. It was a nice day but I get the impression this is a popular park.
My girls love coming here!!! Dog park is huge with 2 fenced sides to choose from.
I’ve been bringing our shepsky here regularly since October 2024, and he LOVES it. He wants nothing to do with me until it’s time to leave – he wants to run, play, and socialize with his buddies. It’s a very consistent group of people there daily, so our dog has become good buddies with a lot of the regular dogs. It’s so fun to watch them all play together – and since we’ve been coming so often the “regular” dogs there recognize my car and will come over to the fence to wait and greet us! It really is a wonderful little community.
