Located in the heart of Alexandria near the Beacon Hill shopping center, Blackjack Dog Park is a favorite destination for local dog owners looking for a welcoming, off-leash play space. This fully fenced dog park offers plenty of room for pups of all sizes to run, play, and socialize in a secure environment. The park features updated double-gated entries for increased safety, a sand/gravel surface that minimizes mud after rain, and easy accessibility from nearby residential areas.
Blackjack Dog Park stands out for its clean, well-maintained grounds – thanks to regular volunteer efforts – and a friendly community atmosphere. Amenities include benches, picnic tables, poop bags, conveniently placed trash bins, and both water bowls and occasional kiddie pools for thirsty dogs. Although there isn't much grass, the surface is comfortable for dogs and the entire area is wheelchair accessible, making it an inclusive location for pet owners in Alexandria, VA. Dogs are allowed off-leash to enjoy the space freely, and parking is available nearby. Be sure to bring your own water in the winter as the on-site supply is seasonal.
People are friendly and there’s a large, fenced area for the dogs to play in. The double gate ‘airlocks’ were recently upgraded to new latching mechanisms that work better. There are poop bags and trash cans, benches and a picnic table, tennis balls, water bowls, and some kiddie pools. The entire lot is sand/dirt, so no grass really. Location is convenient next to the Beacon Hill shopping center and several residential areas. I always walk here but I believe there is some parking at the nearby apartment complex, but not sure if public.
Nice large dog park. Usually find some friendly owners and dogs for play time. Not a lot of grass so it gets a bit muddy when wet and dusty when dry. Bring water for your pups – there are usually bowls at the park but the water quality is iffy at best. Note that water is shut off during the winter, so you must bring your own.
Large Enclosed fenced playground for dogs. Dogs are friendly and many sizes and varied breeds of dogs. Dog owners have been friendly during the afternoons. At my first and only visit in the evening, the dog owners are not as friendly and more of a closed group leaning on the “cult” side. This was confirmed by those I chat with in the afternoon. Regardless, it’s a great place to be able to take off the leash and let your dog run and play!
My dog loves the space that he has to run around. The place is well kept and I don’t remember seeing any dog poop anywhere. I believe I remember they have volunteers come and clean up, and it shows. There is also running water there if you want that for your dog to drink, or to rinse off any toys.
Small friendly dog park with access to fresh water and conveniently placed trash cans for easy disposal of dog waste. Easy access, adequate parking and clear visibility of the entire fenced in area. Gravel surface is easy on the dog paws and doesnt get muddy after rainy weather.
