Located near the Thomas Bell Community Center, Kirtland Dog Park offers a spacious, fully fenced area for your furry friends to run and play off-leash. Nestled in southeast Albuquerque, this dog park features picturesque views, grassy sections, and a peaceful environment away from highway noise. Local residents appreciate that it provides a safe space for pets, and it is especially known for its accessibility and convenient parking options, including wheelchair-accessible spots.
Kirtland Dog Park boasts covered seating, picnic tables, and plenty of room for large dogs to stretch their legs. While there is no separate area for small dogs, the park is praised for its cleanliness and maintenance—poop bags are provided for responsible pet owners. Shade is limited as the trees are still growing, so visitors are advised to bring hats or come early to avoid the midday sun. With its pet-friendly atmosphere and easy access, Kirtland Dog Park is a favorite spot among Albuquerque’s dog owners seeking a welcoming, off-leash destination.
I really wanted to like this dog psrk because the one we went to the day before had no shade at all. But the Goathead thorns were bad. A quick walk around and her paws were covered. I pulled them out and she headed straight to the exit. She was the only dog there.

This use to be a great park to take the dogs but i guess the city has forgotten about it. It’s infested with weeds and not taken care of. My dogs kept get huge stickers in their feet so unfortunately weve stopped going

Very clean and well kept. I like the fact that Albuquerque is so dog friendly with at least 5 dog parks that I counted! Thank you for providing me a safe spot for my pup!

5/13 & 5/16/21: First of all: Where is this dog park you ask? Drive to the end of University towards the Thomas Bell Community Center. Look for a stop sign, then turn right. I recommend using this address (3001 University Blvd SE, Albuquerque, NM 87106). Drive downhill about 750ft and dog park is on the left side.
Interesting dog park; 3 sections that go uphill. My dogs thought they were in a maze but enjoyed the separate areas. First visit there was a lot of poop. Return visit, less dog poop in areas. Thank you pet parents!
The human park is very nice and so green. People were walking, enjoying the beautiful weather and I didn’t see any dog poop in the areas I was in. Bring a blanket and your picnic basket and go enjoy yourself!

Albuquerques newest dog park. So I have visited there twice both times in the evening. it has great views is large enough for big dogs to open up and run. There is no little dog section. The park does have covered benches but it’s new so the trees that will provide Shade in the future are small. I suggest wearing a hat, sunblock, or just go early morning or late evening. Also bring lots of water and a bowl there is not water in this park sadly.
