🐾 Kids at the Dog Park: Real Stories, Safety Risks & Smarter Solutions
If you’ve spent time at an off-leash park, you’ve probably seen it:A parent strolls in with a stroller 🚼 or […]

FamCamp Kirtland AFB offers a spacious and convenient dog park located in Albuquerque, New Mexico, providing pet owners a safe place for their furry friends to play. The park features large, fully fenced enclosures suitable for both small and large dogs, as well as specific off-leash zones. With amenities like a designated area for dogs under 25 lbs, agility and training equipment, benches, a gazebo, and a water fountain for pups, it’s designed to support your dog’s exercise, training, and socialization needs.
This dog-friendly park stands out for its size and the available shade under a large shelter near the front, though trees and natural shade are limited. While many enjoy the relaxed, community feel and ample running space, maintenance can be hit or miss—some visitors report overgrown areas, uneven ground surfaces, and the presence of goathead stickers, so protective gear may be wise for sensitive paws. Regulars recommend early visits for cooler weather, and owners should be diligent about cleaning up after their pets.

A really nice park. I wish they had a few more trees because of course, we came in the heat.

Came in the Truman Gate as my rig is bigger (38 ft bumper pull), the other gates might work for smaller rigs. Overall a great layout, however my wife was confused with the after hours check in and the lady that happened to be in the office at the time wasn’t very knowledgeable of some things. The gentlemen that I met the next day driving around in the golf cart was very knowledgeable and helpful for sure! Watch the dirt lot north of the camp if you decide to take your dogs there, there are lots of “chiggers” in there that are not visible.

Stopped here for the night. Clean and well maintained. Showers and bathrooms were good. My only disappointment is that the laundry room fan wasn’t working. It was a super hot day and doing laundry 🧺 in a sauna was very uncomfortable.
