🐾 Kids at the Dog Park: Real Stories, Safety Risks & Smarter Solutions
If you’ve spent time at an off-leash park, you’ve probably seen it:A parent strolls in with a stroller 🚼 or […]
Located in the heart of Albertson, New York, John D Caemmerer Park is a well-maintained neighborhood spot perfect for families and their pets. While not exclusively a dog park, this community gem offers expansive grassy areas adjacent to the playground and baseball fields that are often enjoyed by dog owners for walking their pets on a leash. The park is known for its cleanliness, updated amenities, and a friendly local vibe, making it a convenient option for residents looking for a pet-friendly outing.
Visitors to Caemmerer Park will appreciate amenities like a playground with rubberized flooring for safety, multiple water fountains (both indoor and outdoor), recently resurfaced parking, and well-kept grounds. The park staff works diligently to keep the area tidy, although geese droppings can sometimes be present in the spring. While there is not a dedicated, fenced dog run or off-leash area, dog owners can enjoy the pet-friendly trails and open spaces while also taking advantage of the family-friendly features nearby.
Little playground brand new next to baseball field and big grass area. Also a tennis court.
Changing my review to 5 star after recent updates. Clean park with multiple basketball hoops , 2 baseball fields and 2 tennis courts. They just redid the parking lot, there is a renewed play area for kids. Tennis courts are uneven but surface is fine . multiple water fountains, one outside and a cold water inside, there are vending machines for beverages inside the building. Staff works hard to maintain the park
There’s not much to do here, but it’s overall a very clean and nice park (minus all the geese poop in the spring). I play tennis here often and the courts are pretty good quality, minus the fact that there’s only TWO courts. It’s a struggle sometimes getting a chance to play. It closes at sunset so you have to manage your time wisely.
As someone who grew up in the Mineola/Albertson area, I have always used Caemmerer Park as my local neighborhood park. Sadly, with the exception of the playground area, the park is largely the same as it was 35 years ago when I used it. Baseball fields are largely unchanged. Whenever it rains in April or October, it is nearly impossible to play baseball on field 1 for 48 hours or more. Field 1 is desperately in need of a turf upgrade. Tennis courts are pretty well-maintained and remain very popular. The indoor facility is a great and cost-effective place to have a birthday party. Brian Every and his grounds crew do an amazing job keeping the grounds maintained and free of geese droppings. This park really needs a water feature in the summer time. A splash pad like at Fuschillo Park would be perfect. All in all a pretty decent neighborhood park with the potential to be a great one.
Let me preface this by saying, I only come here so that my children and make use of the playground. It has a decent sized parking lot. Nestled in the middle of a beautiful community, is this little gem. Adjacent to a base ball field, you can enjoy a school game while your toddler run around in the play ground area. Its a very clean park and well maintained. The floors around the play ground are made of rubber which ensures that falls will be less painful. I encourage people who are looking for a small, clean play ground to bring your kids here. The people in the community seem very pleasant as well.
