🐾 How to Handle Aggressive Dogs at the Dog Park – Real Advice from Dog Owners
Visiting the dog park can be a joyful activity for both you and your furry friend—but aggressive encounters can quickly […]
The Olde English Downtown Dog Park offers a convenient, centrally located spot for dog owners in Albany, NY to bring their furry friends for exercise and socialization. Situated at 119 N Pearl St, this dog park stands out with its wheelchair accessible entrance and nearby metered parking, making it an easy stop for city-dwellers and downtown visitors. While the park is on the smaller side, it provides a secure and well-fenced environment with tall fencing that helps keep both small and large dogs safe while they play. The uneven terrain provides a bit of a workout for dogs, and there are benches and trees offering shady spots for owners to relax.
The park is open dawn to dusk every day, giving owners ample opportunities for morning or evening visits. Although the ground can be muddy, especially in the spring months, the park is appreciated for its proximity to downtown Albany’s dog-friendly restaurants, shopping, and other amenities, making it a great stop before or after a stroll through the city. Waste stations and benches add convenience, helping keep the area clean and comfortable for all visitors and their pets.
In a decent area of Albany! It was “out of the way”. It was a pretty good size and had lots of benches and some trees. It was a little muddy (March) and there were a few pieces of trash, but otherwise it was great! My dog had a great time. Definitely plan on going back.
It is not very large, but quaint. The nice fence is quite tall, so it is good for large dogs too. It is uneven terrain, so the dogs get good exercise. It is located within a small park, and one can see from the off-leash dog park that there are stores about a block away. There is metered parking nearby. I have not been there in several years. There were poop bag stations, but I do not recall water available there, unsure. It would be better if they enlarged it.
Pretty small park but nice shade. Unfortunately it is on a hill and large grate fence could allow balls to roll out onto busy rode and no grass or woodchips so pretty much bald dirt. Nice to have an option for dogs downtown.
Diamond enjoys coming here and seeing other dogs…and smelling… everything. Lol
Nice little dog park close to dog-friendly dining restaurants. It is actually open everyday, dawn to dusk.
