With sweeping views of Blanca Peak and plenty of open space, it’s a favorite spot for both locals and visitors looking for a pet-friendly park in Alamosa, Colorado.

The dog park connects to a scenic lake and features generously sized grounds where dogs can roam free. Awesome dog park in the summer. In the winter however, I just about had a heart attack when both my dogs ran out on the thin ice and I prayed they wouldn’t fall through. I heard it cracking. I’m glad I was able to call them back, but that was scary. Also, there is a place they could escape where the fence meets the water if it is ice.

It connects to the water and nothing keeps them in so maybe not great for some dogs. Not too many features but still good.

Nice, decently maintained park, but the fact that dogs can easily walk around the fence is an issue.

The entrance for the dog park is across from Cattails Golf Course, not where Google says. The park is large with water access for the dogs. There were no bags at the bag station, so be sure to bring your own. There is a gorgeous view of Blanca Peak across the lake that can be enjoyed from a shaded bench. There is a nice trail around the lake. There is a port-a-potty right outside the dog park.
