The professionals at the SPCA Vet Care Center took great care of my cat while she was getting spayed. They had easy-to-find patient forms online that I was able to print and fill out ahead of time.
My only complaint is I had an appointment for 8 am drop off. Apparently, the way they do it, everyone is scheduled for 8 am. I was the 2nd to arrive in the parking lot at 7:40. I didn’t receive instructions other than it was curb side drop off. I actually thought I would pull up through a car line and the staff would come up to my car to pick up my paperwork and my cat. When I realized everyone else was getting out and walking to the front of the building, I got out as well. There were about 10 other pets and their owners there at the same time we were. When the very friendly receptionist came out she asked who was there 1st, other people started saying they were. I guess they meant they were the 1st to get in line. I felt the process was a bit unorganized. I feel like more detailed instructions given to first time visitors would be helpful and could alleviate unnecessary anxiety since a lot of pet parents are already anxious due to their pet’s surgery. I did receive a pre-op phone call but it contained no information about the drop-off procedure. The only information I received concerning the drop-off procedure was it would take about 30 minutes. Which it did.
Overall we had a good experience and the lady that brought my cat out after surgery was friendly.
As a side note to other pet owners, I understand you love your dog and you know it would never hurt anyone, but some people, such as myself, are afraid of dogs. Not just big dogs, all dogs. It would be sincerely appreciated if you don’t let your dog approach strangers. I mean this with all sincerity and with no ill intent. I had the added anxiety of being sniffed by a pit bull while her owner talked to another pet owner. The dog did nothing more than sniff my leg (for what felt like a long time), but it made me uncomfortable given my fear of dogs. I had to ask the owner to pull her away from me.

I took my calico in for a spay. I figured it was a routine thing, she will be fixed and taken care of. When I arrived to pick her up first the lady that was part of the spay/neuter team (old lady) walked up and handed me the carrier with my cat and lets go of it before I even attempted to grab the carrier so it falls on the floor. I looked at her and said why would you let go with assuring I had it? She insisted it was my fault and proceeded to blame me, instead of apologizing. I go to pick the carrier up off the floor, go to look inside and my cat is terrified. Huddled up in the back of the carrier. I took it as maybe she got spooked from the carrier dropping. I inspected closer and noticed the training pad she was sitting on was soaked in urine. Mind you she had a fresh incision on her stomach region. So I go to ask the lady why they didn’t change her pad and she said they she is only allowed one. So you’re to tell me my cat had been laying in a piss-soaked pad for who knows how long? Are you serious? So I asked again and demanded for a new pad and the lady started being dismissive. She started acting like she didn’t hear me. Thirdly they went and charged me extra bc she was heat, when she wasn’t at the age to be in heat. I explained to her that she hasn’t been in heat and asked to show me proof on how they knew she was in heat and told me it’s not my business how they record and do their tests. Since then my cat has been skittish and in constant fear of people. I went to another vet to get a second opinion and was informed that something must’ve happened to her while being fixed. So I’m thinking she was mistreated in some kind of way and now I have a cat that needs to be on anxiety medication because of what they did to her. I don’t how the hiring process is but maybe try to make sure you have qualified personnel that actually are animal people. I will never bring any animal to this place again knowing now how they treated my cat. Nothing that these people say will make me think otherwise, make sure you’re front desk staff learn confidentiality bc I can hear all the tea about other people who have come in to adopt. They talk poorly, are on their phone talking about their personal life which shows no level of professionalism. Show no respect and complain about doing the jobs they were hired to do. Also if they have vets that are fresh out from school maybe they need to make sure the vets are truly trained, and qualified to do their job.

10/10 shelter for finding your forever fury friend. I work here so it may be biased but I’ve been here for years and we give our animals alot of love and care. Our goal is to help any animal that comes in. This shelter and clinic have saved so many lives. It’s truly a wonderful place. ~♡

Very nice clean place with friendly people doing an important job. We have not adopted from there, but we go there a couple times a year to donate food and $.

I had such a good experience adopting a sweet kitty today.

The staff was friendly, helpful, informative, and accommodating. The facility was really nice. I only visited the kitty area, but the area was very clean as well and you could tell the animals were well taken care of.

I adopted a sweet guy who was called McPurr and have since decided to call him Harrison. Harrison Ford that is 🤣
